Sign-Up by using the sign up sheet located on the column in rm 124 and bring $7 Fee (check only to Maggie Walker Music Boosters). 

Deadline is 3:30 p.m., Fri, Sep 8, 2017

By signing up, you are responsible for paying $7 fee whether you audition or not. The audition fee will be reimbursed by the Music Boosters to those who audition.

Students that audition earn a 100 playing test grade as extra credit.


For Tri-M members auditioning for SRO next Saturday: 

There will be SRO practice sessions this Friday (9/15) and next Friday (9/22) in the practice rooms during lunch. There will be principals of each instrument available to help if needed

Students provide their own transportation. Park in the back of CHS, near the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center and look for signs to the orchestra room. 

Arrive between 7:45-8:10.

7:45 a.m.:  MLK Performing Arts Center doors open.  Students warm-up in the PAC. Students may line up for audition order at this time, but the actual audition number assignment will not begin until 8:30 a.m.

8:00 a.m.: Directors Register in the Orchestra Room. Mr. von Klein will distribute the blue slips to students between 8:00-8:10. Blue slips are needed to receive an audition number, so be on the look out for Mr. von Klein. 

8:15 a.m.: Director/Judges Meeting in the Orchestra Room.  

8:30 a.m.:  Student Registration begins in PAC (Students need blue prepaid slips distributed by Mr. von Klein 8:00-8:10 to receive an audition number).

8:45 a.m.: Auditions begin.

10:00 a.m.: Student Registration closes.

Every year there are many students who request to audition early because they have a soccer game, band competition, family obligation, etc. To audition as early as possible: arrive by 7:45 (when the MLK PAC doors open), line up, and look for Mr. von Klein to receive your blue slip between 8:00-8:10 (he will find you in line).

Get a good night’s rest on Friday, eat breakfast Saturday morning, don’t wear yourself out in the warm up room, play your scales with strong, confident tone, and results will be shared as soon as possible via itslearning. Contact Mr. von Klein by text or phone at 804 301-9186 with questions.

The South Central Senior Regional Orchestra includes VMEA Districts 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 13.  It is one of four regional orchestras held in November in Virginia, and is sponsored by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association.
